Celebrating 10 Years of Saabat Gallery

This year marked a truly special milestone for Saabat Gallery — our 10th anniversary. Over the course of the celebrations, we were privileged to witness a series of inspiring events that reflected the gallery’s enduring commitment to creativity, collaboration, and community.

The Saabat Symposium brought together artists, musicians, and art enthusiasts for a remarkable convergence of music, visual art, and meaningful dialogue. The atmosphere was alive with inspiration as participants shared ideas, showcased their work, and celebrated the power of artistic expression. The evening concluded with a captivating performance by the wonderful members of North East Opera, whose voices brought the celebration to a breathtaking finale.

The celebrations culminated in a joyful Community BBQ and Live Brass Band performance, featuring the wonderful South Bank Brass Band and musician David Macken. Surrounded by food, music, and laughter, the day captured the true essence of what Saabat stands for connection, creativity, and community spirit.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the artists, performers, volunteers, and visitors who made these events so memorable. A special thank you also goes to Civil Society Consulting for their invaluable support in helping make this anniversary celebration a reality. Everyone’s energy, enthusiasm, and commitment have helped shape Saabat Gallery into the vibrant creative hub it is today.

Here’s to the next decade of art, music, and community at Saabat Gallery.

South Bank Carnival

At the south bank carnival on the 21st of August 2022, the Saabat gallery presented itself in its usual unique fashion, humbly, creatively and with great passion for the local community.

This event was organized by “The Open Well”, local churches, business, and the people of south bank.

It was a demonstration of collaboration of the highest order by the amazing people of south bank. This was the most joyous occasion of people working together for a long time. The event exceeded everyone’s expectations and we look forward to the next community event.

It’s been a long time coming, for a community that is very often left behind, since the decline of industry and disintegration of communities and rehousing.

We share the view with all our fellow south bankers that we deserve the best. We hope to inform those who are in power to recognise that smaller organisations working together can lead the way of change to a better future for coming generation.
